I'm not sure what to say about this .

Just what we needed. Yet another reality TV show this one setting visual artists up in competion to become the next Artstar . I like the idea of exposing the art world to anyone with cable TV -- assuming that's where it will air (even though I personally only have antenna reception) but... how may they try to spice things up for ratings and possibly sucuumb to damaging cliches, etc.

Regardless, I do like this photo that ran in The New York Times.

I know Dogville has been out forever, but I just got around to watching it the other week. I think it's one of the top 20 important films I've ever seen -- and maybe that's just because I'm a theatre person with a passion for Brecht, but... there you have it. In the follow up readings I did, this quote in particular made some kind of sense.

"My primitive view is that if a system is partly built on the idea that you are the maker of your own happiness, then of course poor people are miserable in the sense that they failed completely. Whereas in other countries, you might look at that more as a failure of the society."
-- Lars von Trier in response to accusations that Dogville is anti-american.
